Guests generally report a positive experience at the Courtyard Irvine Spectrum, particularly praising the helpful and accommodating staff and excellent amenities like the pool and shuttle service. However, a recent review highlighted a severely negative check-in experience involving rudeness and billing issues, indicating potential inconsistency in service.
My experience at the Courtyard by Marriott Irvine Spectrum was extremely disappointing. After a long flight, I arrived to check in and there was an issue verifying my rate. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the front desk employee, Carlos, was rude, dismissive, and made me feel very uncomfortable. I was in a rush to get to a meeting and don’t like confrontation, so I simply dropped my bags in the room and left. I never unpacked, sat on the bed, or used the room in any way. When I returned from my meeting, I tried to speak privately with another employee at the front desk about how uncomfortable my check-in experience had been, but Carlos immediately came over. I explained that I no longer wanted to stay at the hotel and wanted to check out. When asked if I would still be charged he said he needed to verify with housekeeping, then disappeared into the back office. I waited for quite a while with no update before finally leaving. Before I left, I asked for a printed copy of my bill. Carlos told me it would be emailed to me, but I never received anything. The next thing I knew, I found a $454 charge on my credit card. There was no follow-up, no attempt to resolve the situation, and no opportunity to discuss the charge with anyone. The most disappointing part of this experience was the complete lack of customer service. When a guest expresses that they are uncomfortable and wants to leave, management should make an effort to de-escalate the situation and find a reasonable solution. Instead, I felt dismissed from the beginning, and once I left, there was no communication whatsoever. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel customer service experiences I’ve had, and I would not stay at this property again.
This is a great hotel for teams and for anyone competing at the Woodbridge Invitational. The staff had our keys and rooms ready to go right when we walked in and were extremely helpful during our entire stay. The rooms were nice and the hotel is conveniently located near the meet and the Spectrum Center, which offers many dining options.
The outdoor pool and fire place is a must visit. The room is ample and clean. THe bed is super comfortable. The cafe breakfast is yammy. Free iced water in front of the desk is super handy. The laudry is such an adorable service. 10 minutes walk to Spectrum is a super plus. Safe neighborhood.
Hands down one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The room design is well thought out. The queen beds are bigger than the standard hotel beds. They actually have enough night stands with outlets so everyone has a place to charge their phones and set their stuff down. They have a chair in the corner of the room. A nice desk area. They have a great pool and hot tub. They have mini golf and ping pong. I would highly recommend staying here over any other hotels. We came to San Diego after Irvine and ended up at Legacy Resort and Spa. I was disappointed when I realized there was a Courtyard by Marriott right next door as I would have much preferred it. One of my new favorite hotels. Staff was super friendly too..
I had an exceptional stay at this property and would definitely come back! The hotel is beautiful, but the staff truly make the experience. Jesse, Daniel, and Tiffany at the front desk were incredibly accommodating. Daniel took us over to the Irvine Spectrum shops and restaurants in the free shuttle, and Tiffany was right there to pick us up when we were done. They also made a late checkout absolutely seamless for us. As a swimmer, the pool is "to die for"—it’s half an Olympic size with straight lanes perfect for laps. The gym is also top-tier, well-stocked with free weights and a great variety of machines. We loved the outdoor amenities too, especially the hot tub, fire pits, and the cornhole and ping-pong setups. The dining was a highlight as well. I really appreciated that the breakfast team offered gluten-free toast to go with my scrambled eggs and bacon. I also had a delicious Caesar salad at the Bistro one evening. My only negative would be that the bistro is not open at lunch. Throughout the stay, even the cleaning staff made a point to say hello and make us feel welcome. It’s a wonderful place to bring your family!
